Nations Conference organized by Gymnasium 157 founded in 1868 and located in the picturesque center
of St.Petersburg. SPIMUN is affiliated to The Hague International Model United
Nations (www.thimun.org) and is one of the oldest MUN conferences in Russia.

designed for high school students (14 – 19 years old). The conference is a
three-day-long simulation of the work of the United Nations. The structure of

Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and

oldest buildings of our city and the seat of the Imperial State Duma, Russia’s
first parliament.
About Gymnasium 157
Each year SPIMUN
is traditionally hosted by the Gymnasium 157 – one of the oldest educational
institutions of Saint Petersburg. The history of the Gymnasium dates back to
1868, when it was founded as the gymnasium for girls. The gymnasium bears the
name of its patroness Princess Eugenia of Oldenburg, Granddaughter of the
Russian Emperor Nicolas I.
The history of
the Gymnasium is closely connected with a heroic history of St. Petersburg. 39
teachers and 49 students were awarded with medals for heroism during 900-day
siege of Leningrad (1941 – 1944).
The school
museum provides a great opportunity for learning school history and offers
guiding tours in Russian and English. The museum was opened in May 1996 and now
it contains more than 500 exhibits: documents, objects of everyday life and
photos.
Nowadays about
600 students from 7 up to 17 years are studying in the Gymnasium. Special
attention is given to the humanitarian subjects such as history, literature and
foreign languages.
